Start with the official identity
Search the company’s legal name or USDOT number. Compare the official name, headquarters, contact information, registration status, and business role with the company that provided your estimate.
Confirm whether it is a carrier, broker, or both. If a broker will assign another carrier, request that carrier’s identity before pickup and verify it separately.
Compare terms, not only totals
- Binding or non-binding estimate type
- Inventory and included services
- Deposit, refund, and payment method
- Pickup and delivery windows
- Packing, storage, shuttle, stairs, and long-carry charges
- Valuation, claims, cancellation, and dispute terms
Make a documented decision
Ask unresolved questions by email and save the answers. Recheck the official record shortly before pickup because public information can change.
