03 / PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

Step 1
Download and extract the website starter. Keep index.html, styles.css and script.js in the same folder and retain a clean original copy.

Step 2
Open that folder in a text editor. Read index.html first and identify the stylesheet and script references.

Step 3
From this folder, run python -m http.server 8090. Open http://localhost:8090 rather than a file-system URL.

Change the page heading, save and refresh. Check the browser console and confirm the stylesheet still loads.

Start with the likely cause
If the port is occupied, choose another port and update the browser URL. Run the command from the folder containing index.html.
My screen is different from the guide
Check the product, editor, account role and selected project first. Open the credited official instructions for your version. Record the difference and pause any action whose effect you cannot verify.
The screen looks correct, but the result is missing
Inspect the saved record, published page or execution log that should prove the action. A preview, success message or draft is not always evidence that data was stored or a message was delivered. Retest with one unique demo value.
